In line with the priorities set out in the National Research Plan (PNRR) 2021-2027, the project of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei is part of a network of institutions, research bodies, and universities that together constitute an international centre of excellence for training, research, and technology transfer in the field of culture and cultural heritage. The initiative promotes interdisciplinary research and the enhancement of the humanities through the contribution and application of digital technologies.
The PNRR Project of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei is part of Spoke 3, dedicated to Digital Libraries, Archives, and Philology. Spoke 3 focuses on the digitisation and analysis of archival, bibliographic, and textual sources. Its objective is to create a digital environment for philology and digital libraries, facilitating the transcription and study of manuscripts and printed works through OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and HTR (Handwritten Text Recognition) technologies.
Spoke 3 contributes to a deeper understanding of linguistic and cultural interaction by exploring multilingualism in Italy from both diachronic and synchronic perspectives. By digitising and making accessible a wide range of historical and literary texts, it supports comprehensive philological, linguistic, and cultural research, fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of Italy’s rich textual heritage.
